ACCEPTING DEPOSITS FOR F1 COCKAPOOS !
At Lavender poodles and doodles, we specialize in breeding poodles, goldendoodles and cockapoo puppies with the best temperament, health, and conformation possible. All of my puppies are raised in my home, cuddled and lovingly cared for since the minute they come into the world. I personally care for each and every puppy until they are old enough to go out into the world and change their family's life forever.
puppy raising
Our program is heavily influenced by Puppy culture. Our pups are raised in our spare bedroom right next to my room where they begin Puppy Culture, Early Neurological Stimulation and Early Scent introduction handling at 3 days old up until their 14 days old. The puppy culture curriculum includes exposure to stimuli, including scents, sights, sounds and people. This curriculum helps puppies to be confident family pets or service/therapy dogs.
At 2 weeks of age, we begin daily handling exercises to desensitize puppies to their face, eyes, mouth, ears, paws and body being touched. As all of our puppies will require extensive grooming though out their lives.
At 3 weeks of age, we desensitize the puppies to the sounds and sensations of grooming with weekly baths, blow drying, nail trims, brushing, (face and feet shaving on poodles only) and sanitary trims. Puppies also start weaning onto puppy food around 3-4 weeks of age.
Also starting at 3 weeks of age is "litter box training" Puppies have a natural instinct to not potty where they sleep if given a choice, so we split the whelping box into a potty area and a sleeping/play area. for our litter boxes we utilize plastic trays lined with pee pads and alfalfa pellets, so they get the small of grass to make potty training easier with a grate on top, so the puppies don't step in their poop. This method is helpful in keeping the puppies clean and helps to smooth the transition to potty training in your home!
At 5-6 weeks of age the puppies are introduced to approved strangers, a variety of surfaces (laminate flooring, wood surfaces, concrete, grass, asphalt, etc.), a variety of sounds, and car rides. Depending on the weather outside, we also introduce them to sprinklers and kiddie pools! (weather premating) and they will be introduced to crates.
